We are expanding with a new, one-million-square-foot, 15-floor, state-of-the-art facility on Cleveland Clinic Main Campus designed to elevate care for complex neurological conditions — including spine injuries, epileptic seizures, movement disorders, multiple sclerosis and stroke.

Job Details:
This RN Resident will be a part of the Level IV M60 Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU). The Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) is a specialized neurological stepdown unit dedicated to the monitoring and diagnosis of seizure activity. The unit primarily cares for patients with known epilepsy, individuals experiencing undetermined events (including possible non-epileptic seizures), and patients undergoing video EEG monitoring for diagnostic evaluation, medication adjustments or weaning, seizure characterization, and epilepsy surgery workups. The EMU operates with a 4:1 patient-to-RN ratio and supports a multidisciplinary care team that includes RNs, PCNAs, HUCs, EEG technologists, physicians, and nurse practitioners. The unit values self-motivated, empathetic, and personable team members who work collaboratively in a patient-centered environment.

Hours: 36 hours per week. Rotating 12-hour shifts: 7:00 am—7:30 pm and 7:00 pm—7:30 am. Shifts rotate every 6 weeks. The schedule includes every other weekend (EOW) and every other holiday (EOH).

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.

Implements and monitors patient care plans. Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate.

Serves as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.

Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders.

Assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.

Maintains professional growth and development through ongoing formal and informal education and clinical nursing study.

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN program), Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) or ability to obtain.

Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross

New graduate RN (or) and RN with less than one year of work experience

Physical Requirements:

Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.

Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.

Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.

Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.

Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
