Position Overview:
The Network & Systems Administrator reports to the Ticket Operations & Technology Director and is a key member of the IT Department. This position is responsible for designing, maintaining, and supporting the organization’s network and systems infrastructure to ensure secure, reliable, and efficient operations. The role prioritizes network administration while also requiring strong systems administration expertise to support servers, virtualization, security, and user environments.

Duties:
Network Administration (Primary Focus):
• Designing, implementing, troubleshooting, and maintaining networks, including network maps and documentation
• Configuring and managing switches, firewalls and VPNs, to ensure secure high-performance connectivity
• Assigning IP addresses, maintaining IP routing, and managing DNS zones and DHCP services
• Monitoring and analyzing network logs, performance metrics, and web statistics to identify and resolve issues proactively
• Planning, evaluating and implementing hardware and software upgrades for network devices
• Providing problem-solving services and working with service providers to resolve connectivity or service outages

Systems Administration (Secondary Focus):
• Maintaining, configuring, and troubleshooting Windows and Linux servers, virtualization platforms (VMware ESXi), and cloud environments (Azure, Microsoft 365)
• Helping oversee Active Directory, Group Policy, Exchange, SharePoint, and SQL server environments
• Conducting tests and helping manage SSL certificates, Windows Certificate Services, and implementing strong security practices
• Helping perform regular system monitoring, verifying integrity and availability of hardware, server resources, and critical processes
• Helping implement and maintain backup, disaster recover, and failover procedures using solutions such as Veeam
• Keeping and maintaining control records and documentation current for infrastructure, systems, and configurations

User & Team Support:
• Providing Tier 2/3 helpdesk support, resolving escalated issues quickly and effectively
• Collaborating with IT staff to plan and deliver IT projects, providing guidance and mentorship where needed
• Communicating clearly with both technical and non-technical users

Policy & Planning:
• Researching and recommending IT best practices, security standards, and emerging technologies
• Assisting in drafting and implementing IT policies, processes, and procedures to strengthen operations and security posture
• Contributing to project planning and execution, balancing immediate support needs with long-term IT strategy

Job Requirements:
Requirements:
• Completion of a college or other program in computer science or related field, or equivalent combination of education and professional experience is required
• 1+ years experience as a Network Administrator and/or Systems Administrator or in a similar position, with proven ability to manage enterprise-level networks in Microsoft and Linux environments
• Strong knowledge of LAN/WAN technologies, DHCP, DNS, VPNS, firewalls, routing, and switching
• Proficiency with Windows Server (2008-2022), Active Directory, Group Policy, and permissions
• Experience with Microsoft 365, Exchange, SharePoint, and Azure administration
• Proficiency with VMware ESXi (versions 6&7) and virtualization management
• Experience with Windows PowerShell scripting
• Experience with backup, data protection, and disaster recovery planning
• Advanced troubleshooting skills (hardware, software, and networking)
• Comfortable with VIPRE Antivirus, Veeam Backup and Recovery
• Experience with Ubiquiti/Unifi wireless solutions
• Familiarity with MacOS environments
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a small IT team
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
