HIRING: Natural and applied sciences policy advisor - NOC 41400

The natural and applied sciences policy advisor will provide services in the areas of policy, document co-ordination, project tracking, event organisation, and writing. The services will be provided under a broad range of projects on which Emerging ag inc works. The role requires a high degree of autonomy, motivation, and organization.

Location: Dugald, Manitoba, Canada (Frequent or constant travel may be required)

Hours of work: Full-time (40 hours per week)

Terms of employment: Permanent

Salary: $80,000 annually

Job Duties:
• Conduct Research, prepare research papers, educational texts or articles
• Deliver presentations at conferences, workshops or symposia
• Technical writing, process data to conduct basic analyses of trends
• Building of networks to support engagement of business, science and farm representatives at events organized by Emerging ag.
• Capacity to conduct analysis for Canadian and international institutions in an African context.
• Ability to work with communities to engage in new science and agricultural projects.
• Understanding of gene drive and related science and apply it to conservation context.
• Ability to build networks to advance community ecosystems and further agriculture-wildlife coexistence.
• Delivery of well-organized events, that manage multiple streams of activity seamlessly.
• Managing communications and relationships with UN and member states with the highest levels of diplomatic etiquette (in particular on gender-based initiatives).
• Provide support to the senior company leadership in scoping and delivering policy related projects in the context of strong science and evidence-based projects.
• Superior report writing skills.

Skills Requirements:

• +5 years’ work experience in relevant field.
• Masters degree, in Environmental Science or related field
• Experience in a communication role, ideally working on campaigns or advocacy, for NGOs, international organisations, think tanks, or similar.
• Experience with conservation advocacy and ecosystem management.
• Experience with the interlinkages between agri-food, health and gender with ecosystems.
• Strong communication skills, internal and external with a high level of protocol, including exposure to the multilateral environment.
• Proficiency in the following tools for the above:

o Survey Monkey
o Mural
