Mega Sushi Restaurant is seeking a F/T Head Chef. Job

Position Info:
• Position: Head Chef
• Terms of employment: Full-time, Permanent
• Wage: $38.50-$40.00/hour (depending on experience)
• Working Hours: 30-40 hours/week
• Number of Positions: 1
• Work Location: 12-2662 Austin Avenue, Coquitlam, BC V3K 6C4

Job Duties:
• Make sushi, sashimi, and other Japanese dishes for daily service
• Direct sushi chefs, cooks, and kitchen helpers during service hours
• Develop menus and review dishes to confirm they meet the restaurant’s quality standards
• Adapt dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances
• Teach staff knife skills, sushi rice cooking, and safe handling of raw fish and other food
• Show cooks new techniques and how to use new kitchen equipment
• Order fish, produce, and other ingredients along with kitchen supplies
• Forecast the quantities and costs of ingredients and supplies needed
• Keep records of food costs, consumption, sales, and inventory
• Coordinate equipment purchases and repairs

Job requirements:
• Education: Completion of secondary school is required
• Experience: 3 to 5 years of commercial kitchen experience preparing Japanese sushi, including some experience supervising staff, is required
• Language: English
