Responsibilities
Tasks
• Explain procedures
• Operate X-ray, radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment
• Operate radiation therapy equipment
• Perform scheduled maintenance and minor repairs on equipment
• Position patients
• Prepare and administer radiopharmaceutical materials to patients or to biological samples
• Train technicians, assistants, students or interns
• Assist radiation oncologists and clinical physicists with preparation of radiation treatment plan
• Assist in the preparation of sealed radioactive materials and the construction of plaster casts and acrylic moulds to assist with the administration of radiation treatment
• Perform diagnostic procedures using radioactive materials on biological specimens
• Record and process results of procedures
• Apply radiation protection measures
• Explain procedures and side effects of radiation
• Perform basic verification and quality control checks on radiographic and film processing equipment
• Record and process patient data
• Provide appropriate care and monitoring of the patient during the examination
