Company Overview:
Pangeo Corporation is the Canadian corporate headquarters of Pangeo Technologies, a multinational automotive manufacturing group with operations in Canada, the United States, and China. Our company's main products include powertrain products, interior and exterior components and sub-assemblies, and precision-made plastic injection molds for major North American and global Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and Tier 1 suppliers.
Pangeo operates through multiple subsidiaries including production facilities and a dedicated Research & Development engineering office in the Greater Toronto Area (Mississauga, Ontario). Our company is in a high-growth phase, expanding our Canadian engineering capabilities to support increasing automotive OEM demand in North America, including new programs with Korean and Chinese OEM customers.

Position Overview:
The Mechanical Engineering Technologist is the primary resource at Pangeo's Mississauga R&D office, responsible for all mechanical design, CAD documentation, CNC tooling optimization, and engineering packages supporting active OEM customer programs. This position requires an exceptionally rare combination of automotive mechanical design expertise and CNC machine design experience. Mandarin Chinese and Korean language ability is highly desired given the frequent cross-border support for and communication with our Chinese manufacturing facilities and Korean automotive OEM customers.

Duties:
• Preparing and developing the mechanical design and technical layouts of safety-critical parts, specifically Park Lock Actuator systems, automotive tooling components, assembly fixtures, and automation equipment from concepts through production release using CATIA and AutoCAD;
• Designing and optimizing CNC machine components and tooling layouts to improve machining cycle times, reduce part counts, and increase production efficiency in the company's mass production operations;
• Conducting stress analysis, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) evaluation on designed components to verify performance, strength, and dimensional compliance with automotive OEM specifications;
• Utilizing and managing the PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) system to control engineering documentation packages including engineering drawings, bills of materials (BOM), technical specifications, spare parts lists, and user manuals per customer and ISO standards;
• Supporting new product development and engineering change management from concept through production launch, including preparation of PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) and APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) deliverables for OEM customers;
• Preparing cost and material estimates for engineering projects;
• Supporting program management with project schedules, technical feasibility assessments, and technical proposals for customer quotations;
• Managing and maintaining the design libraries within the PLM system, including standard, purchased, and custom parts, to ensure strict version control and accessibility across the engineering team;
• Coordinating cross-border engineering activities between the company's Canadian R&D office, Chinese manufacturing facilities, and Korean automotive OEM customers, including technical discussions, documentation reviews, and customer communications;
• Reviewing customer requirements and technical specifications to ensure design feasibility and compliance;
• Preparing and presenting technical proposals for customer and government approval processes;
• Delivering technical engineering support for Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and customer complaints by conducting systematic root-cause analyses on field returns and prototype failures to implement corrective actions;
• Coordinating and driving technical alignment with internal electronics testing teams and external component suppliers (e.g., electric motors, precision gears) to define technical interfaces, validate boundary dimensions, and resolve complex component-level integration issues;
• Developing technical specifications and Statement of Requirements (SOR) for contract and tender documents when evaluating and sourcing external components, custom tooling, or production equipment vendors.

Requirements:
• Completion of a two- or three-year college program in mechanical engineering technology is required.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in mechanical design in an automotive, precision manufacturing, or CNC machining environment.
• Demonstrated CNC machine design experience — including design of spindles, tool brackets, machine beds, tooling layouts, or equivalent precision machine components.
• Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks and CATIA.
• Experience with AutoCAD is required. Experience with Autodesk Inventor is an asset.
• Expertise in GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA)/stress analysis on mechanical components.
• Experience preparing complete engineering documentation packages: drawings, BOM, specifications, spare parts lists, and user manuals per automotive OEM standards.
• Experience with automotive PPAP and APQP processes.
• Experience with powertrain assembly automation line design or manufacturing equipment design is an asset.
• Patent authorship or demonstrated innovation in CNC machine design or automation engineering is a strong asset.
• Proven experience in implementing, administering, and maintaining PLM systems within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
• Written and oral proficiency in Mandarin, Chinese and Korean is strongly preferred.
