Job Description:
Propak Systems Ltd. is an established leader in engineering, fabrication, and construction of gas compression and processing facilities for the energy industry. We are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineering Technologist to join our team in Airdrie, Alberta.
Mechanical Engineering Technologists provide technical support in the design, testing, inspection, and development of mechanical systems and equipment. This role supports engineering projects through drafting, design coordination, testing, inspection, cost estimation, and construction support activities. The successful candidate will possess strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems, engineering practices, and CAD software.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Assist in the inspection of mechanical installations and construction projects;
· Assist in preparing design, drawings and specifications;
· Carry out a limited range of mechanical tests and analyses of machines, components and materials;
· Perform computer-aided design (CAD);
· Estimate project costs and material requirements;
· Prepare and interpret engineering design, drawings and specifications;
· Prepare contracts and tenders;
· Prepare standards and schedules;
· Supervise maintenance programs or operation of mechanical plants;
· Supervise, monitor and inspect mechanical installations and construction projects, and
· Test machines and equipment.
Prerequisites
Education
• College diploma or certificate in Mechanical Engineering Technology or a related field
Experience
• Minimum of 2 years of directly related mechanical engineering technologist experience
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Mastercam CAD/CAM, and Microsoft Office applications
• Experience preparing and interpreting technical drawings, engineering designs, and specifications
• Familiarity with mechanical systems, equipment testing, and construction or maintenance support activities
• Experience working in fast-paced industrial or engineering environments with changing priorities and deadlines
