The Role: Reporting to the Store Manager, the Meat & Seafood Department Manager is responsible for the department’s operation by achieving its profit/loss results, business goals and customer requests.

Specific Skills
• Supervise and co-ordinate activities of workers in the Meat & Seafood Department
• Manage and supervise staff performance
• Provide coaching, on-the-job training, shadowing, guidance and supervision to department staff; promote teamwork and create an inclusive working environment
• Manage day-to-day business operations of the department. This includes managing merchandise, placing orders, as well as planning and executing promotional activities to achieve departmental goals
• Assign duties to sales staff and other workers in the department
• Establish work schedules
• Organize and manage inventory in both the display and walk-in coolers
• Oversee product quality, freshness and ensure “First-In, First-Out” (FIFO) is strictly practiced within the department
• Conduct quality control during the receipt of inventory
• Responsible to ensure that meat and seafood display counters are clean and well-kept
• Collect and analyze market information, and design response measures
• Prepare reports on sales volumes, merchandising and personnel matters
• Resolve problems that arise, such as customer complaints and supply shortages
• Maximize customers’ satisfaction, build rapport with our customers by providing a good smile, eye contact and attention to them
• Sell merchandise on occasion
• Lead by example by performing all hands-on duties required in the Meat & Seafood Department
