HireGenics is immediately hiring a Material Handler Fabrication - Contract in Pomona, CA.

Pay: $18.50 per hour.

The position will be for 2nd shift and training may be on 1st or 2nd shift depending on business needs.

Perform duties to load, unload and move raw material, finished parts and supplies within the department. Pickup line scrap from machines and weigh and record before empting into scrap truck. Must know how to powered forklift trucks, powered hand trucks and hand jacks. Maintain neat and orderly work areas and observe safety rules and practices.

Responsible for the movement of materials through the paint line process (handling, positioning, hanging, machine operating, etc.) and ensuring paint quality for all parts being processed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Hangs, loads, places, and removes parts/materials from paint line conveyor or any other paint line machinery.
Verifies and processes work orders in adherence to the production schedule or expedited orders.
Marks coated parts with identifying information.
Inspects coated materials for paint defects and makes repairs as applicable.
Initiates scrap tickets to generate part replacement orders.
Properly discards scrap and/or defected materials not serviceable.
Operates paint-line machinery (e.g. paint-booth, wash tanks, curing oven, and burn-off oven).
Manually sprays hard to paint parts to help achieve 100% quality paint coverage.
Performs and documents common routine testing conducted in paint lines (e.g. ground test, viscosity test, etc.).
Tests water samples for conformance to specification (e.g. pH levels).
Adds specified chemicals to water tanks in order to reach proper chemical levels.
Properly drains holding tank in compliance with applicable safety regulatory laws.
Observes, inspects and performs routine testing of machine gauges, dials, or other indicators to detect defects or deviations from standards, and makes adjustments.
Cleans and maintains machines, equipment, and work area to ensure proper functioning and safe working conditions.
Performs other work as directed by Supervision.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Working Conditions: Job involves typically working indoors, being assigned to any of the different shifts; working as part of a team; performing repetitive tasks; occasionally handling heavy materials; wearing personal protective equipment; being exposed to overhead moving objects, acidic/caustic water, paint dust/particles/debris, slippery surfaces, and loud noises; and the possibility of bumps, cuts, and scrapes.

Note: This site is unionized, and workers will be eligible for conversions after 90 days of employment. Additionally, once they become FTE, they will receive a pay increase every 6 months thereafter.
The payrate after conversion as direct hire on 2nd shift will be 19.98 + Shift differential ($0.40)
This position will be cross function and the candidate must be willing to work in SWBD and Fabrication as they may be moved and trained depending on business needs
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High School diploma or equivalent preferred
Knowledge: Basic shop math
Skills: Basic computer skills , and use of basic mechanical/measuring tools
Abilities:
Must be able to speak, read, write, and comprehend the English language
Must be able to work standing for the duration of the shift
Must be able to reach, grasp, lift 50 lbs , and push/pull/slide heavy material
Must be able to make coordinated movements of the hands and arms to grasp and move objects.
Must be able to stoop, bend, squat, crawl, and climb
Other: Must be at least 18 years of age
