Job Summary
The Manufacturing Technician / Machinist is responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting machining equipment, including 3-axis CNC machines, manual mills, and lathes. The role involves producing precision components per engineering specifications, performing setups, inspecting parts, and ensuring smooth manufacturing operations.
🛠 Key Responsibilities
Operate CNC and manual machines such as mills, lathes, grinders, and 3-axis machines.
Perform machine setups, tool changes, and adjustments based on production requirements.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, work instructions, and SOPs.
Inspect machined parts using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measurement tools.
Troubleshoot machining issues and make necessary adjustments to maintain product quality.
Work with manufacturing engineers to improve machining processes and reduce scrap.
Perform preventive maintenance on machines to ensure maximum uptime.
Handle basic machine programming edits (G-code adjustments, offsets, speeds/feeds).
Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
Document production data, part counts, quality checks, and maintenance activities.
📚 Required Skills & Qualifications
High school diploma, technical certificate, or equivalent manufacturing experience.
Hands-on experience with 3-axis machines, CNC machining, or manual machining.
Strong understanding of machining principles: speeds, feeds, tolerances, and materials.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T.
Experience using precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, height gauges).
Mechanical aptitude with strong troubleshooting skills.
Ability to lift, handle, and move materials or machined parts safely.
Basic computer skills for entering production data and reading work orders.
✨ Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)
Experience in aerospace, medical device, or high-precision manufacturing.
CNC programming experience (G-code, CAM software exposure).
Experience with tooling, fixture setup, and process optimization.
Familiarity with lean manufacturing or 5S practices.
