Maintenance Mechanical Technician-HVAC Job

Work Hours: 6:00 AM-4:30 PM, 10-hour flex days Monday-Friday

The Mechanical Technician - HVAC:

Inspects, repairs and maintains all HVAC controls, machinery, fixtures and equipment including: electrical controls, refrigerant piping, valves, connections, fittings and couplings, chilled and hot water pumps, air handlers, refrigeration equipment, air compressors and air dryers, thermostats and humidistats on all HVAC equipment, whether pneumatic, electrical or electronic, de-scales tubing, cuts and thread pipe and makes pipe and electrical connections.

Performs other duties as assigned to meet the demands of the department including; but not limited to general maintenance: plumbing, carpentry, flooring installation and repair, ceiling tile installation and repair, locksmith and landscaping.

Subject to be called in on emergency situations and to work as needed.

Required:

Journeyman HVAC License or Associates Degree in HVAC/refrigeration

Valid Driver's License

High school diploma or GED

Three years experience in automation HVAC controls or Refrigeration repairs

Knowledge in refrigeration systems or HVAC controls

Knowledge of plumbing, electric and carpentry

Central State Hospital (CSH) is a State operated, 24-hour facility, that provides inpatient psychiatric care for adults 18 and older that are experiencing acute behavioral health problems and require 24-hour clinical supervision, observation and assessment; with the mission to facilitate recovery and return to community life. We have capacity for 70 patients and average about 50-55 patients per day. Hospital operations include a total of four units; three units are co-ed and one all male and serving approximately 700-1000 individual patients per year. CSH uses Trauma-Informed Care as an approach that assumes an individual is more likely than not to have a history of trauma. It promotes environments of health and recovery rather than practices and services that may inadvertently re-traumatize our patients. Central State Hospital is state governed under the Cabinet of Health and Family Services (CHFS).
