Job Description:

Mainframe Business System Analyst is needed to perform the below mentioned job duties :

1. Analyze business rules in COBOL programs for insurance processes
• Examine COBOL code to extract business logic related to disability insurance policy setup and lifecycle
• Interpret eligibility rules, underwriting conditions, and plan-specific configurations embedded in programs
• Identify variations in policy administration logic across multiple insurance products
• Document implicit business rules for downstream system understanding and modernization efforts

2. Evaluate JCL workflows and batch execution logic
• Analyze JCL scripts to understand job execution sequences and conditional processing steps
• Identify dataset dependencies, job triggers, and scheduling conditions
• Review restart and recovery mechanisms within batch jobs
• Document batch execution flows supporting policy processing and payroll integration

3. Perform program structure and modular dependency analysis
• Analyze copybooks to understand shared data structures and field definitions
• Trace control modules and subprogram calls to map application architecture
• Identify tightly coupled components and opportunities for modularization
• Build dependency diagrams to support impact analysis and system changes

4. Map end-to-end customer processing workflows
• Translate technical program flows into business-level process maps
• Trace customer journey from policy onboarding through account servicing
• Identify integration points between enrollment, billing, and servicing systems
• Highlight gaps or inefficiencies in current processing workflows

5. Facilitate stakeholder communication and documentation
• Gather and translate business requirements into functional specifications
• Act as liaison between product owners, developers, testers, and offshore teams
• Create system documentation, flow diagrams, and technical artifacts
• Provide project updates, manage expectations, and handle escalations

6. Perform data analysis using DB2 relational databases
• Write SQL queries to extract and validate policyholder and transactional data
• Analyze premium payments, billing records, and account balances
• Perform data validation to ensure integrity across processing systems
• Support reporting and reconciliation activities using DB2 data

7. Utilize mainframe data tools for querying and validation
• Use SPUFI and QMF to execute queries and generate ad hoc reports
• Analyze large datasets for fund allocation and investment transactions
• Support business teams with data extraction and validation requests
• Optimize query performance for efficient data retrieval

8. Analyze batch scheduling and job flow optimization
• Review job scheduling using Control-M and CA-7 to understand execution timelines
• Identify dependencies and sequencing issues affecting batch performance
• Evaluate processing windows for fund calculations and payroll integration
• Recommend improvements for efficiency and reduced processing time

9. Investigate production issues and ensure system stability
• Analyze abend codes, job logs, and system outputs to diagnose failures
• Use SDSF, File-Aid, and Fault Analyzer to perform root cause analysis
• Review dump reports and datasets to identify data or processing issues
• Document findings and recommend fixes or preventive enhancements

10. Contribute to system enhancements and modernization initiatives
• Identify legacy system limitations and propose modernization strategies
• Participate in refactoring or redesigning mainframe components
• Support migration of batch processes toward streamlined or real-time solutions
• Collaborating in implementing enhancements for fund processing and investment tracking

11. Analyze SAS programs for actuarial and reporting logic
• Review SAS scripts to understand calculations related to premiums, benefits, and fund performance
• Interpret reporting logic used for financial and regulatory outputs
• Validate consistency between SAS outputs and business expectations
• Support migration of analytical logic to modern platforms where applicable

Bachelor’s degree is required in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems or Computer Engineering
