As we continue to grow, we are looking to expand our engineering team with a skilled Machine Designer.

About the Role
Summit Water is seeking a Machine Designer to support the design, development, and optimization of mechanical systems and equipment used in our water treatment solutions.
This role is responsible for creating detailed engineering designs, supporting manufacturing processes, and contributing to the successful execution of both standard and custom projects.

What You’ll Work On
• Mechanical Design & CAD
Design and develop machinery, components, and systems using CAD tools, including power transmission, piping, and HVAC-related systems.
• Product & System Development
Support the design of water treatment equipment and custom-engineered systems, ensuring performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
• Manufacturing Support
Develop tools, fixtures, jigs, and molds to support production and improve efficiency.
• Testing & Validation
Conduct analysis and testing of components and materials to evaluate strength, performance, and durability.
• Project & Installation Support
Assist with reviewing mechanical installations, preparing documentation, and supporting construction and commissioning activities.

Key Responsibilities
• Create and analyze engineering designs, drawings, and technical specifications
• Prepare cost estimates, material take-offs, and project schedules
• Support and review mechanical installations and construction projects
• Develop maintenance standards and support plant operations as needed
• Prepare contract documents and tender packages
• Collaborate cross-functionally with production, sales, and project teams

Ideal Background
• Diploma (2–3 years) in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technician, Machine Design, or a related field
• 1–2 years of experience in mechanical design, drafting, or manufacturing
• Proficiency with CAD software and mechanical design principles
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is an asset

Compensation & Details
• Job Type: Permanent, Full-time (40 hours/week)
• Wage: $37.50 per hour
