About Summit Water:
Summit Water provides innovative water solutions for a changing world. A dynamic and growing company owned by private equity investors, we design and manufacture commercial water treatment systems and distribute a broad range of water treatment equipment and pumps. As we continue to grow, we are looking to expand our engineering team with a skilled Machine Designer.
About the Role:
Summit Water is seeking a Machine Designer to support the design, development, and optimization of mechanical systems and equipment used in our water treatment solutions. This role is responsible for creating detailed engineering designs, supporting manufacturing processes, and contributing to the successful execution of both standard and custom projects.
Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare detailed 3D CAD models, mechanical drawings, and layouts for custom industrial pump systems, water treatment equipment, and skid-mounted assemblies using SolidWorks.
• Interpret engineering specifications, P&IDs, and structural data to develop accurate fabrication and manufacturing drawings.
• Generate comprehensive Bills of Materials (BOMs), detailed component lists, technical documentation, and cost/material estimates for production procurement.
• Design specialized production tools, custom molds, jigs, and manufacturing fixtures to streamline shop fabrication and improve assembly efficiency.
• Conduct routine component testing, performance analysis, and quality validation on mechanical systems to evaluate strength, reliability, and durability.
• Review physical mechanical installations on-site and provide remote technical support to assembly teams, ensuring perfect alignment with design blueprints.
• Provide cross-functional engineering assistance to production and fabrication teams to resolve manufacturing deviations, material substitutions, or technical constraints.
• Collaborate closely with project managers, procurement specialists, and external component vendors to coordinate raw material dimensions and technical hardware specifications.
• Incorporate structural reinforcement parameters, weldment profiles, and high-pressure piping specifications directly into engineering design revisions.
• Maintain internal engineering databases, draft submittal packages, and track revision logs across both standard product frameworks and custom project files.
• Monitor manufacturing assembly lines during build cycles to track process optimization and document immediate engineering updates.
• Contribute actively to corporate continuous improvement initiatives by refining engineering design cycles, minimizing material waste, and elevating system performance standards.
Ideal Background:
• Diploma (2-3 years) in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technician, Machine Design, or a related field
• 1-2 years of experience in mechanical design, drafting, or manufacturing
• Proficiency with CAD software and mechanical design principles
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is an asset
Why Summit Water:
• Growing company with strong market demand
• Opportunity to work on custom-engineered systems
• Hands-on role with exposure to design, manufacturing, and projects
• Collaborative and entrepreneurial team environment
How to Apply:
Interested candidates are invited to submit their resume and a brief cover letter outlining their relevant experience to [email protected].
