Benefits Package: 4% vacation pay will be paid each payday on a bi-weekly basis.

Minimum Education: Completion of Secondary school is an asset but not mandatory.
Experience: Previous experience as a Truck Driver is an asset but not mandatory. On-the-job training will be provided.
Other Requirements: Class 1 License and Air Brake Endorsement are required.
MELT Training: MELT Training will be provided to eligible applicants at employer's expense.

Job Title: Long Haul Truck Driver
Job Location: Varies from Contract to Contract.

Job Duties:

• Operate and drive primarily tractor-trailer, long-combination vehicle's and straight-body trucks to transport goods and materials over long distances
• Plan trip logistics and obtain the required documentation to transport goods
• Perform pre-trip, in route, and post-trip inspection of vehicle systems, equipment, and accessories such as tires, lights and turn signals, brakes, and cold storage
• Ensure cargo is secured properly in accordance with safety requirements and check on cargo at every stop during the long haul.
• Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes and ensure that all documentation pertaining to travelling between states or countries is in order
• Record cargo information, hours of service, distance traveled, and fuel consumption
• Use GPS and/or maps to chart out the best route which is time and fuel-efficient
• Administer bills of lading and manually or electronically maintain log books
• Communicate with dispatcher, other drivers, and customers using communication devices and on-board computers
• Perform any repairs that may need to carried out, especially during roadside emergency
• May drive as part of a two-person team or convoy
• Ensure that goods are delivered to the right destination and obtain signatures from the party to whom the goods have been delivered to.
