Job Description:
Key Duties:
Operate and drive heavy trucks to transport goods over long distances.
Plan trip logistics and obtain required documentation for transporting goods.
Perform inspections:
Pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of vehicle systems (tires, lights, brakes, cold storage, etc.).
Ensure cargo is secured properly per safety requirements.
Record and maintain logs:
Cargo information, hours of service, distance traveled, and fuel consumption.
Administer bills of lading and maintain log books (manually or electronically).
Communicate with dispatchers, drivers, and customers via on-board computers or communication devices.
Load and unload goods (as needed).
Obtain special permits for international routes.
Follow safety procedures for transporting dangerous goods.
Perform emergency roadside repairs .
Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy .
Requirements:
Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
Entry Level / No experience required
English language proficiency
40-50 hours per week
Permanent, Full-time employment
50-75% overnight travel required
Work locations: Various locations in the Lower Mainland (Surrey, BC)
