Minimum Education: Completion of Secondary school is an asset but not mandatory.
Experience: Previous experience as a Truck Driver is an asset but not mandatory. On the job training, will be provided.
Other Requirements: Class 1 License and Air Brake Endorsement is required.
MELT Training: Mandatory MELT Training will provided to eligible applicants at employer's expense.

Job Title: Long Haul Truck Driver
Job Location: Varies from Contract to Contract.
Job Duties:
• Operate and drive trucks to transport goods and materials.
• Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection of vehicle systems, equipment and accessories such as tires, lights and turning signals and brakes.
• Ensure cargo is secured properly in accordance with safety requirements and check on cargo at every required stop.
• Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo and ensure that all documentation pertaining to travelling between provinces is in sequence.
• Ensure that the truck is in proper condition before setting off.
• Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption.
• Use GPS and / or maps to trace out the most convenient route which is time and fuel efficient.
• Manually or electronically maintain logbooks, besides administering waybills.
• Communicate with dispatcher, other drivers and customers using communication devices and on-board computers.
• Conduct any repairs that may need to be performed, especially during roadside emergencies.
• Ensure that goods are delivered to the right destination and obtain signatures from the party to whom the goods have been delivered to.
