Job Description:
Terms of Employment: Permanent, Full Time (must be available for Overtime, Weekends, Day, Night, Evening)
Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible
Education: High school/ Secondary school completion
Experience: 1 year or more of flat deck experience will be an asset (Not Mandatory).
Credentials: (Certificates, licenses, memberships, courses, etc.), (Class 1 or A), Air Brake (Z) Endorsement
Languages: Functional English is required
Type of Travel: Long-haul, Travel for extended periods.
Type of Equipment: Super B Flat, Triaxle Flat, and Reg Flat
Weight Handling: Up to 45 kg (100 lbs)
Specific Skills:
• Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy
• Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials
• Loading and unloading of goods
• Tarping and ensuring the safety and security of cargo
• Plan travel schedules and routes
• Receive and relay information to a central dispatcher
• Oversee the condition of the vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, and other equipment
• Monitor vehicle performance and mechanical fitness
• Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment Transportation/ travel experience
Compensation and Hours:
• Wage: $33.60 per hour
• Hours: 40 hours per week, full-time
• Overtime Pay: $50.40 per hour (after 8 hours/ day or 40 hours/ week)
• Vacation Pay: 2 weeks/ year or 4% as per provincial standards
