Responsibilities
Safely operate large commercial trucks over long distances, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
Load and unload freight using forklifts or other heavy equipment when necessary, ensuring proper handling and securement of cargo
Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to identify maintenance needs or safety issues
Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel consumption, delivery logs, and freight documentation
Communicate effectively with dispatchers, clients, and team members to coordinate delivery schedules and resolve issues promptly
Perform basic automotive repairs or troubleshooting as needed to keep the vehicle in optimal condition
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local transportation regulations throughout each trip
Experience
Proven experience in commercial driving with a valid CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) suitable for long-haul routes
Demonstrated ability to operate heavy equipment such as forklifts safely and efficiently
Familiarity with freight handling procedures and securement techniques for long-distance transport
Basic automotive repair skills to address minor vehicle issues on the road
Strong knowledge of safety protocols related to heavy equipment operation and transportation regulations
Ability to navigate using GPS or other routing tools confidently during extended trips
