Salary: $36.50/hour / 35 - 40 hours per week

Job requirements:
Languages: English
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
Experience: 1 to 2 years of relevant experience is required
Licence: A Class 1 or A licence is required to drive long combination vehicles.
Specific Skills:
•Drive heavy-duty trucks and tractor-trailers weighing more than 4,500 kg to move goods across long distances
•Map out travel routes ahead of time and make sure all required paperwork is in order before hitting the road
•Check the vehicle thoroughly before, during, and after each trip covering tires, brakes, lights, signals, and any refrigeration units
•Load and secure freight properly to meet safety standards, and follow the correct procedures when carrying hazardous materials
•Apply for special permits and gather the necessary documents when crossing international borders
•Keep detailed records of what was hauled, hours driven, distance covered, and fuel used throughout each trip
•Handle shipping documents and keep logbooks up to date, either on paper or through electronic logging devices
•Stay in regular contact with dispatchers, customers, and other drivers via radio, phone, or onboard systems
•Handle minor mechanical issues or breakdowns on the road when they come up
•Team up with another driver for extended trips or travel in convoy when the job calls for it
•Safely transport regulated or dangerous goods when assigned, following all relevant rules and guidelines
