Job duties:
• Operate and drive tractor-trailer and long-combination vehicles to transport goods and materials across long-distance routes within Canada and, when required, across international borders (e.g., Canada–U.S. routes)
• Perform team driving duties on long-haul routes, alternating driving shifts with a co-driver to ensure continuous transportation while complying with regulated hours of service requirements
• Plan and coordinate trip logistics, including route selection, scheduling, fuel stops, and rest periods to ensure timely and efficient delivery
• Obtain and verify all required documentation for domestic and cross-border shipments, including bills of lading, customs paperwork, and special permits where applicable
• Conduct thorough pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections of vehicle systems and equipment, including tires, brakes, lights, coupling systems, and refrigeration units (if applicable), to ensure safe operation
• Ensure cargo is properly loaded, secured, and protected in accordance with safety regulations and company standards, including handling of regulated or hazardous materials when required
• Monitor and maintain accurate records of cargo details, hours of service, distance travelled, and fuel consumption in compliance with regulatory requirements
• Administer bills of lading and maintain electronic or manual logbooks using on-board systems and fleet management software
• Communicate effectively with dispatchers, team drivers, customers, and border officials using communication devices and in-cab technology to coordinate deliveries and address any issues during transit
• Adhere strictly to all transportation safety regulations, company policies, and industry best practices to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operations
Job requirements:
• Completion of secondary school.
• Driver's License (Class 1 or A) is required.
• Air brake endorsement (Z) is required.
• On-the-job training will be provided.
