Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Logistics Operations Director to lead and oversee transportation, distribution, and logistics operations within the organization. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing supply chain activities, optimizing operational efficiency, supervising logistics staff, ensuring compliance with transportation regulations, and supporting overall business objectives. This role requires strong leadership, analytical thinking, and the ability to manage multiple logistics functions in a fast-paced environment.
Duties
• Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate logistics and transportation operations within the organization
• Develop and implement logistics policies, procedures, and performance standards to improve operational efficiency
• Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, transportation laws, and regulations
• Oversee transportation scheduling, dispatch, fleet maintenance, warehousing, and distribution activities
• Monitor inventory movement, shipping operations, and delivery performance to ensure timely service
• Control departmental budgets, operational costs, and resource allocation, including acquisitions and contracts
• Analyze operational performance, prepare reports for senior management, and recommend improvements to logistics processes
• Coordinate with suppliers, carriers, clients, and internal departments to maintain effective supply chain operations
• Recruit personnel and oversee employee training, development, and performance management
• Resolve operational issues and implement strategies to improve productivity and customer satisfaction
Qualifications
• A bachelor's degree or college diploma in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field is usually required
• 2 years of similar experience is required
• Strong leadership and team management skills
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational abilities
• Knowledge of transportation regulations, logistics operations, and supply chain processes is preferred
