Job Overview:
The Licensed Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and inspecting electrical systems in accordance with the Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC), the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), and all applicable codes, standards, and company policies.
Duties:
• Installing, replacing, repairing, maintaining, and testing electrical systems, equipment, fixtures, and controls in commercial, industrial, institutional, and residential environments.
• Reading and interpreting electrical drawings, blueprints, specifications, and single-line diagrams.
• Installing conduits (EMT, PVC, rigid, flexible), cable trays, wiring, and electrical devices.
• Installing, terminating, and commissioning electrical panels, transformers, disconnects, switchgear, motors, and control systems.
• Performing troubleshooting and diagnostics on electrical faults using appropriate testing equipment.
• Installing and maintaining lighting systems, emergency lighting, exit signs, generators, UPS systems, and power distribution equipment.
• Splicing, joining and connecting wire to fixtures and components to form circuits.
• Performing electrical service calls and emergency repairs while maintaining excellent customer service.
• Conducting preventive maintenance and inspections of electrical systems and equipment.
• Ensuring all installations comply with the Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC), ESA requirements, local building codes, and manufacturer specifications.
• Coordinating and cooperating with project managers, general contractors, engineers, inspectors, and other trades.
• Completing electrical testing, commissioning, and startup procedures.
• Maintaining accurate documentation, including service reports, deficiency lists, inspection reports, and material records.
• Ordering and managing materials required to complete assigned work efficiently.
• Mentoring and supervising registered apprentices when assigned, ensuring work is completed safely and in accordance with apprenticeship requirements.
• Identifying deficiencies, safety hazards, and code violations and recommending corrective actions.
• Participating in ESA inspections and ensure deficiencies are corrected promptly.
• Maintaining company vehicles, tools, equipment, and inventory in good working conditions.
• Providing excellent customer service while representing the company professionally on all job sites.
Health & Safety Responsibilities
• Follow all Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) regulations and company safety policies.
• Wear and maintain required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Perform hazard assessments before beginning work.
• Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures where required.
• Report unsafe conditions, incidents, injuries, and near misses immediately.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Participate in safety meetings and required training.
• Operate lifts, ladders, scaffolding, and other equipment safely and within certification requirements.
Performance Expectations
• Complete work safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all applicable codes and regulations.
• Deliver high-quality workmanship with minimal deficiencies or rework.
• Maintain professionalism and positive relationships with clients, coworkers, and contractors.

Requirements:
• Completion of secondary school is required
• 3+ years of experience working as an Electrician, including installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems
• Valid Ontario Certificate of Qualification (309A Construction & Maintenance Electrician).
• Strong knowledge of the Ontario Electrical Safety Code and Canadian Electrical Code.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and specifications.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Proficiency with electrical testing instruments and diagnostic equipment.
• Valid Ontario Class G driver's license with a clean driving record (preferred).
• Ability to lift up to 23 kg (50 lbs.), work at heights, and perform physically demanding tasks.
