Lead Supplier Quality Engineer

As part of this expansion, XNRGY is seeking a qualified Lead Supplier Quality Engineer to join its team. The position of Lead Supplier Quality Engineer will play a crucial role in ensuring that strategic suppliers meet the organization's quality, reliability, and performance standards. This position requires a dynamic individual who is comfortable with frequent travel to supplier locations for process audits, quality assessments, and performance reviews. The Lead Supplier Quality Engineer will be responsible for establishing and maintaining strong supplier relationships, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to support business objectives.

An overview of your responsibilities:

Supplier Quality Assurance & Auditing
• Lead and manage supplier quality initiatives to ensure alignment with corporate quality objectives and customer requirements
• Plan, oversee, and execute risk-based audits at supplier facilities to ensure compliance with internal policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements
• Evaluate and approve supplier processes; drive systemic improvements and confirm the implementation of corrective actions
• Develop and maintain audit schedules; report findings to senior leadership and coordinate follow-up actions to ensure sustained quality improvements
• Ensure supplier compliance with established quality frameworks such as APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning), PPAP (Production Part Approval Process), and related industry standards

Performance Oversight Monitoring & Continuous Improvement:
• Define, track, and report key performance indicators (KPIs) across the supply chain, including defect rates, on-time delivery, and responsiveness to quality concerns
• Investigate and analyze systemic non-conformances; lead collaborative initiatives with suppliers to implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
• Identify and implement quality improvement initiatives that enhance product reliability, reduce costs, and improve delivery performance

Supplier Development & Technical Leadership:
• Serve as the primary liaison for supplier quality matters, working cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain teams
• Lead supplier quality reviews, manage root cause analysis sessions, and resolve complex technical quality issues
• Provide training and mentorship to internal teams and suppliers on best practices in quality management, including Lean, Six Sigma, and FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis)
• Support supplier onboarding, qualification, and development to build a robust and scalable supply chain

Compliance & Documentation:
• Maintain and improve supplier quality documentation, including audit records, qualification files, and compliance reports
• Ensure supplier compliance with environmental, safety, and regulatory standards
• Lead or support strategic sourcing initiatives, supplier transitions, and new program launches requiring supplier quality integration

This position supervises the work of a team of 4 to 6 Supplier Quality Engineers and Sr. Supplier Quality Engineers.

Required travel: Domestic and international travel to supplier sites (up to 50%).

Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Industrial Engineering or a closely related discipline, or the foreign equivalent thereof; and 60 months of progressive work experience in supplier quality engineering, manufacturing, or supply chain roles. Minimum experience must include managing or leading a supplier quality team; leading problem-solving and risk-case analysis from a supplier quality perspective; driving supplier strategy for Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) cost reductions; conducting process audits and evaluating supplier technical capabilities; developing suppliers through targeted technical capability enhancement programs; designing and implementing the architecture of Quality Management Systems from the ground up; with in-depth knowledge of quality management standards (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, or IATF 16949); proficiency in quality tools and methodologies (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, and Root Cause Analysis); and expertise in data analysis and reporting tools.
