EHV Cable System Jointing & Installation – 30%

• Lead the on-site execution of EHV underground transmission cable jointing and termination works for Taihan Electric USA projects, including XLPE cable systems across utility-scale transmission networks in the United States.
• Perform and supervise precision cable preparation processes, including conductor exposure, semiconductive layer removal, insulation shaping, and dimensional verification, ensuring full compliance with Taihan’s internal installation tolerances and OEM specifications.
• Execute installation of premolded and field-applied jointing systems, ensuring accurate positioning of stress control components to maintain uniform electrical field distribution within EHV cable accessories.
• Direct the installation and alignment of compression connectors and conductor joints, ensuring optimal electrical conductivity, mechanical integrity, and long-term load performance under high current conditions.
• Oversee the application and integration of multi-layer insulation and shielding systems, ensuring continuity between cable insulation and joint/termination bodies without introducing voids or contaminants.
• Perform and supervise metallic sheath reconnection and bonding configurations, including cross-bonding and grounding arrangements required for high-voltage transmission systems.
• Lead installation activities within joint vaults, substations, GIS interfaces, and termination structures, ensuring proper spatial configuration, clearance, and environmental protection of all EHV accessories.
• Coordinate transition jointing works involving different cable types, voltage classes, or legacy systems, ensuring compatibility between Taihan-manufactured components and third-party infrastructure.
• Maintain strict environmental control protocols during jointing operations, including contamination prevention, humidity control, and temperature monitoring to protect dielectric integrity.
• Review and implement project-specific engineering drawings, cable routing plans, and jointing layouts, ensuring all field installations align with Taihan’s design and client specifications.

Testing, Commissioning & Technical Diagnostics - 30%

• Lead pre-commissioning verification activities, including insulation resistance testing, sheath integrity checks, and continuity verification across installed cable systems.
• Support and oversee high-voltage commissioning tests for EHV cable systems in coordination with utilities, third-party testing firms, and Taihan engineering teams.
• Analyze partial discharge indicators and abnormal test results, identifying potential defects in jointing workmanship, insulation integrity, or accessory installation.
• Interpret diagnostic results from dielectric performance testing (e.g., tan delta behavior) to assess potential degradation, contamination, or installation defects.
• Perform root cause analysis on cable system failures, including disassembly and inspection of failed joints or terminations to determine contributing technical factors.
• Verify proper implementation of sheath bonding and grounding systems, ensuring compliance with system design to minimize circulating currents and induced voltages.
• Interface directly with utility clients, EPC contractors, and commissioning engineers during energization readiness reviews and acceptance testing.
• Evaluate field conditions for installation-related damage or defects, including mechanical stress, sheath damage, or insulation irregularities, and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure all specialized jointing tools, crimping equipment, and testing devices are calibrated and used in accordance with Taihan’s technical standards.
• Prepare and validate technical documentation, including joint records, installation logs, test reports, and commissioning summaries for client submission.

Technical Leadership, Quality Control & Field Oversight - 40%

• Serve as the Lead EHV Jointer responsible for directing all jointing crews on Taihan Electric USA projects, including task allocation, sequencing, and technical supervision.
• Enforce strict adherence to Taihan installation methodologies and OEM procedures, ensuring no deviation from approved processes without technical authorization.
• Conduct quality assurance inspections on completed joints and terminations, verifying dimensional accuracy, cleanliness, material application, and assembly sequence.
• Lead site safety briefings and technical planning sessions, particularly for high-risk environments such as energized substations, confined joint vaults, and transmission corridors.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. safety and operational standards, including lockout/tagout procedures, grounding protocols, and high-voltage hazard mitigation.
• Coordinate with project management on construction sequencing, outage schedules, and installation timelines, ensuring alignment with utility requirements and project deadlines.
• Assess site constructability and technical risks, including cable routing constraints, bending radius limitations, and environmental conditions affecting installation quality.
• Train and mentor junior jointers and technicians in advanced EHV jointing techniques, including insulation handling, stress control installation, and defect prevention.
• Act as the final technical authority for field decision-making, including acceptance or rejection of installation work and determination of required rework.
• Certify readiness of installed cable systems for energization, ensuring all technical, safety, and quality requirements are satisfied prior to commissioning.

App. must have at least a high school diploma and 12 years of experience in EHV Cable Jointing.
