The purpose of the Landscape Design and Maintenance Coordinator is to provide the technical/design expertise and logistical support to achieve CPFM goals related to landscape improvement, design and maintenance. The Landscape Design and maintenance Coordinator designs and coordinates small-scale landscape improvements in collaboration with Grounds Maintenance Workers, reviews landscape plans for all projects with input from other Grounds Maintenance workers, Coordinates work of all classified, temporary, and student grounds workers in collaboration with all Landscape coordinators and the Landscape maintenance Manager. Assists with landscape maintenance as needed, and acts as a resource to the campus community and public about the campus landscape. This position also plays a key role in managing GIS and computer mapping information related to the campus landscape.

The Landscape Design and Maintenance Coordinator participates in developing and maintaining written standards for landscape construction and landscape protection on campus. This includes meeting with landscape architects, designers, project managers, campus planning committee, landscape maintenance manager, and maintenance supervisors to effectively communicate standards and overall project goals. The Landscape Design and Maintenance Coordinator will review proposed construction plans for compliance, maintainability and aesthetics, recommend changes, as well as assist project managers in landscape construction quality assurance for small, medium, and large capital construction projects.

Interactions and contacts occur daily with the campus community in the course of performing work and responding to emergencies. This position works as a member of a team while frequently performing tasks independently. Decisions may be made about the best method and materials necessary to perform a particular task. They may also include setting priorities, assessing customer needs and responding to those needs. These decisions affect work productivity and protection of the aesthetic quality and monetary investment in the campus landscape.

Work is reviewed regularly by the Landscape Maintenance Manager to ensure it is performed efficiently, safely, and meets both expectations and applicable requirements. A performance appraisal is conducted annually.

Driving Requirement:
It is an essential requirement of this position to qualify for and maintain UO driver's certification eligibility, which includes maintaining an Oregon driver’s license throughout employment in this position.

Essential Personnel:
This unit may provide essential services during times of emergencies and inclement weather. This position may be required to fulfill essential services and functions during these times.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Requirements
• Three years of experience in the operation, maintenance, or repair of facilities in one or more physical plant or building services and one additional year of experience with responsibility for coordination of maintenance work or projects.

NOTE: Some positions may require licensing or certification in a specific trade area.

Preferred Qualifications
• Completion of a 4 year program in landscape architecture or landscape design, or have 5 years of experience in commercial landscape design under the direction of a licensed landscape architect.
• Bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture or related field.
• Experience providing customer service.
• Experience using AiM or similar work management software.
• Experience with Integrated Pest management Programs
