Job Description:
SUMMARY
An attorney at Virginia Injury Law is responsible for actively negotiating and maximizing the value of their own cases, including reviewing, and analyzing files for proper diagnosis, causation, permanency, prognosis past and future economic and non-economic damages.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
include but are not limited to:
Meets with prospective and new clients, creating an intake summary for cases, and updating and counseling clients via phone calls.
Investigates claims, gathers information and evidence, and evaluates the merits of a case.
Formulates legal theories and strategies, which includes researching case law, and investigating sources of recovery
Reviews demand packages prior to sending to insurance companies, negotiates settlements between clients and insurance companies, and evaluates a claim’s potential for a favorable outcome in a lawsuit.
Meets regularly, and is in partnership with, Case Managers.
Collaborates with other attorneys to review pending cases, both in pre-litigation and in litigation.
Drafting of pleadings, conducting discovery, and handling motions practice for litigation in service of trying cases on behalf of clients

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Juris Doctor Degree
Current Virginia State Bar license
One year plus experience litigating
Comfortable with use of technology, with good computer and mobile skills and the ability to embrace and adapt to changes to technology that is critical to how we work
Good working knowledge of the primary Microsoft Office programs
Reliable transportation to Norfolk VA office
ADDITIONAL DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Proficiency in QuickBooks, Office Suite, and case management software
Spanish speaking
One year plus years’ experience handling personal injury law
One year plus experience personal injury litigation experience
Spanish language skills
Familiarity with case management software and cost management
