Judicial Clerkship - Law Clerk Job

Applications are now being accepted to fill a full-time Judicial Clerkship for the Oneida County Circuit Courts located in Rhinelander, WI and Vilas County Circuit Courts located in Eagle River, WI.

JOB SUMMARY
This is a shared time position that will work 50% of the time in Oneida County and 50% in Vilas County. Job duties for the position include conducting legal research, writing opinions and memoranda on motions for summary of judgement, suppression of motions and administrative agency appeals. Position also performs mediation services as directed by the judges, including but not limited to small claims cases involving pro se litigants.

WAGES, BENEFITS AND WORK HOURS
The 2025 annual salary is $54,600 and includes affordable health, dental and vision insurance. This position will start June 1, 2025 under a one-year renewable employment contract.

Qualified applicants must possess a law degree from an accredited law school and be admitted to the Wisconsin Bar Association or be pending admission. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of how to research problems arising under state laws and municipal ordinances, civil procedure, criminal procedure, and rules of evidence. Ideal applicants will also have knowledge and appreciation of the need to maintain confidences, being discreet and professional in all oral and written communications along with the ability to analyze, assess and organize facts, evidence and precedents and effectively present such material orally and in writing. Proficiency and experience with Westlaw online services strongly preferred.
