JR-83671 Certified Surgical Assistant II- Main OR (Open) Job

Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is hiring a Certified Surgical Assistant II for the Main OR in Charlottesville, VA. This is a first shift position 10 hour- 7a to 5p, Monday to Friday- alternating days off. Call required 6 to 7 days per 6-week schedule and includes one weekend. 7p to 7a on weekends for call, weekday call is 5p to 7a.

The Surgical Assistant II works as a 1st or 2nd assistant to the surgeon and under the direction/supervision of that surgeon and in accordance with hospital policy and appropriate laws and regulations. The Surgical Assistant works as part of a multidisciplinary surgical team, collaborating with nurses, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient care.

Education

Graduate of CAAHEP (Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs) accredited Surgical Assistant Program required.

Trade School Graduate- Required.

Certification/Licensure

Surgical Assistant license required for appropriate state of practice Required

BLS certification Required

One of the following certifications required: Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) - Certifications - National Commission for the Certification of Surgical Assistants (NCCSA), Certified Surgical Technologist/First Assistant (CST/CSFA) - Certifications - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)

Experience

Demonstrates in depth clinical and technical skills in 3 surgical specialties. Participates in departmental improvement efforts to include quality improvement projects, conducting in-services, etc.

Participates in the orientation process for new employees and the educational instruction for the Surgical Assistant student, intern, or extern Graduate of CAAHEP (Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs) accredited Surgical Assistant Program.

3 years of experience as a surgical assistant Required.
