Job Description:
JANITORIAL SUPERVISOR — MUNICIPAL FACILITIES

Location: Sturgeon County, Alberta (north of Edmonton, Morinville area). You must live in or near the County — this is an on-the-ground role, not a remote one.

ABOUT THE ROLE
We provide janitorial services to municipal facilities in Sturgeon County, and we need a local supervisor to run the crew on the ground.

This is a working supervisory role. You'll schedule and lead the cleaning staff, inspect the sites yourself against the cleaning specification, fix problems before the client finds them, and be the person who answers the phone when something goes wrong at 9 p.m. You'll also own the day-to-day operation of the work-alone policy and communications plan — knowing who is in which building, and that they got out safely.

If you've supervised cleaning crews in municipal, school or public facilities and you live in the area, this is a good fit.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Inspect the facilities on a regular documented schedule against the cleaning specification, and record what you find
- Correct deficiencies on the spot and follow up to confirm they stay corrected
- Schedule staff and guarantee a minimum of two employees on site at all times during service delivery — covering call-outs, absences and last-minute changes is on you
- Supervise, train and coach the cleaning crew, and handle performance issues directly
- Administer the work-alone policy and communications plan for all personnel on County property outside regular hours — check-in schedules, contact records, and escalation when someone doesn't check in
- Be the first point of contact for the client on day-to-day service questions, requests and complaints
- Report on service delivery, inspection results, incidents and completed periodic work
- Manage supplies, consumables and equipment — ordering, stock levels, servicing
- Ensure first aid, emergency response and health and safety training is current for every person on the crew, and keep the records
- Investigate and document incidents, near misses and injuries, and drive corrective actions
- Cover cleaning shifts yourself when the schedule needs it

WHAT YOU NEED
- You live in or near Sturgeon County and can attend any site on short notice
- Supervisory experience leading a cleaning or facilities crew — scheduling, inspecting and managing people
- Fluent in English, speaking, reading and writing. Required for every person on this contract, and you'll be writing the inspection and incident reports.
- A valid Alberta driver's licence and reliable transportation — you'll be moving between facilities
- Current first aid training, or willingness to obtain it before starting
- Emergency response procedures training, and working knowledge of the Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulation and Code
- Comfortable running a health and safety program day to day — toolbox talks, inspections, incident reports, training records
- Organized enough to keep accurate written records; inspection and check-in documentation is a contract requirement
- Available outside regular business hours, since much of the cleaning happens in the evening

PREFERRED
Municipal or public sector facility experience — County, town, school division, library or recreation facility contracts. This is what we most want to see. Also: experience being audited against a written cleaning specification; experience implementing working alone procedures under Alberta OHS; WHMIS 2015 and any formal health and safety certification; floor care and periodic work expertise; experience hiring locally and keeping a crew together in a smaller community.

WHAT WE PROVIDE
All cleaning supplies, consumables and equipment. Personal protective equipment. First aid, emergency response and health and safety training where you don't already hold it. Backing from head office on hiring, payroll and client escalations — you run the site, not the paperwork alone.

We are an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applications from all qualified candidates and encourage applicants from Sturgeon County and the surrounding communities to apply. Accommodations are available on request at any stage of the hiring process.
