We design and manufacture suspension components for wheeled and tracked military vehicles and off-highway machines used in construction, forestry, mining and agriculture. These components include passive and semi-active dampers and hydro pneumatic struts. Horstman Canada is a CGRP-registered corporation and is a RENK group company.


POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a full-time IT Support Technician with web application development skills. The IT support Technician will be primarily responsible for maintaining the IT infrastructure and look after the cybersecurity needs of Horstman Canada and will serve as the first-line technical support to our users experiencing difficulties with computer hardware, applications, and communications software. Duties will include providing support to employees for computer related issues, troubleshooting network issues with the help of the IT service provider, owning the support and maintenance of the phone system, printers and video conferencing systems. Other responsibilities will include developing and maintaining simple web applications for use by Horstman Canada employees. This position reports to the Information Technology Manager and as such may require duties performed in addition to IT and cybersecurity support.


REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
The IT Support Technician will report to the IT Manager and work in a closely knit team with Horstman staff across Horstman and wider Horstman Group and RENK companies.


KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The responsibilities of the IT Support Technician include:

IT Support:

• Address issues with PCs, printers, network and the phone system.
• Setup workstations and user profiles for new employees on-site or online.
• Maintain the IT asset list and spare device inventory.
• Maintain and update the server with assistance from the IT MSP.
• Perform daily backups and data recovery operations.
• Install, troubleshoot and update frequently used software applications.
• Manage licensing and contractual needs for software applications, domain names and video conferencing system.
• Train employees on new programs and updates.
• Review suspicious e-mails and send out IT alerts.

Cybersecurity:
• Maintain the system security plan and ensure cybersecurity practices are implemented and enforced.
• Test incidence response capability and report incidents to designated individuals.
• Periodically perform risk assessments, assess security controls.
• Review and update logged cybersecurity events.
• Receive and respond to cyber threat intelligence from information sharing forums and sources and communicate to stakeholders.

Web Tool Development Assistance:
• Assist in creating simple web applications using Python, MySQL and HTML.
• Maintain the web applications after deployment.





REQUIREMENTS


- Possess diploma or Bachelors degree in information technology.
- 2 years of relevant job experience.
- Proficiency in Python.
- 2 years experience using Ivanti MDM solution
- 2 years experience using Veritas Backup Exec
- 2 years experience using an Unified Endpoint Management (Baramundi Suite) software
- 2 years experience using Sophos Endpoint Solution
- 2 years experience using an email security appliance (Clearswift and Rapid 7)

Horstman Canada is registered with the Government of Canada’s Controlled Goods Program. As such, all candidates will need to pass an extensive background check.


COMPENSATION


- Hourly wage of $28.85 for at least 40 hours a week, overtime rate of $43.27 per hour applies after 44 hours of work per week
- Full-time, permanent position
- Main work location: 110 East Dr, Brampton L6T 1C1
