Job Description:
Intern Architects are responsible to conceptualize, plan and develop designs, under the supervision of a senior architect, for the construction and renovation of commercial, institutional and residential buildings. This position will be employed by a private architectural firm.
Main duties
oReview client requirements to determine the type, style and purpose of renovations or new building construction being considered
oConduct feasibility studies and financial analyses of building projects.
oConceptualize and design buildings and develop plans describing design specifications, building materials, costs and construction schedules
oPrepare sketches, models and videos for clients
oPrepare drawings, specifications and other construction documents for use by contractors
oPrepare bidding documents, participate in contract negotiations and award construction contracts
oMonitor activities on construction sites to ensure compliance with specifications
oResearch products and materials, review existing projects and those under construction to inform the production of design documentation
oWork under close supervision and receive specific and detailed instructions regarding tasks and expected results
oPerform elementary architectural assignments and work collaboratively with others toward design solutions

Job Requirements:
Experience/skills requirements
oA master’s degree from an accredited school of architecture.
oRegistration with the NSAA as an Intern Architect.
o1 to 2 years of professional experience
oEntry level architectural ability in the design of buildings and sites and the production of construction documents
oBasic understanding of architectural design and construction principles and building types
oCommunication and graphic skills to contribute to the Architectural Team’s efforts in a significant way including general drafting, modeling and renderings (proficient use of digital tools)
•Additional information
oProgression to senior positions, such as architect, project architect, and senior architect is possible with experience and professional registration.
Compensation
oAnnual salary of $61574
o30 hour work week
o3 weeks vacation per annum effective upon commencement of employment
oPaid time off between Christmas Day and New Year’s Day
oFive paid wellness days per year
oEligibility for annual bonus subject to the firm’s profitability and employee contribution to the firm
oParticipation in our group health insurance plan for which employees become eligible after three months of full-time employment.
