Job Overview:
The Insulator Helper provides support to Insulators and other team members in the installation, maintenance, and removal of insulation materials on various structures. This position requires a good work ethic, the ability to follow safety guidelines, and the ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist skilled Insulators in the installation of insulation materials on pipes, ducts, tanks, boilers, and other surfaces to reduce heat loss, noise, or condensation.
Prepare and clean work areas, ensuring materials and tools are readily available and organized.
Cut insulation materials to specified lengths and shapes, using hand tools or power tools.
Apply insulation to surfaces, ensuring correct material placement and adherence to safety and quality standards.
Assist in the maintenance of insulation systems, including repairs and replacements of worn or damaged insulation.
Load and unload insulation materials, ensuring they are properly handled and stored.
Measure and mark areas where insulation needs to be applied, following blueprints or instructions from senior Insulators.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to safety procedures and wearing required protective equipment.
Assist in testing and checking the effectiveness of insulation systems.
Operate basic hand tools, power tools, and mechanical equipment used in insulation work.
Ensure compliance with company and safety standards, reporting any hazards or unsafe conditions to supervisors.
Skills and Qualifications:
Ability to lift heavy materials and perform physically demanding tasks.
Basic knowledge of insulation materials and installation processes (training will be provided).
Good attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely.
Strong communication skills to work effectively in a team.
Ability to work in various environmental conditions (hot, cold, or confined spaces).
Previous experience in a construction or labor-intensive role is a plus, but not required.
Ability to work at heights or in cramped spaces, if necessary.
Basic knowledge of safety procedures related to construction or industrial work.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to perform manual labor, including lifting, carrying, and moving materials.
Comfortable working in confined spaces, at heights, or in extreme temperatures.
Standing, bending, and lifting for extended periods of time.
Preferred Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED.
Prior experience in construction, insulation, or similar trades.
Certification in workplace safety (OSHA or similar) is a plus.
