Job Description:
This World’s Ours Centre is looking for an experienced Instructor for Children and Adults with Disabilities to join the team.

This position is permanent, full-time; 30 hours per week; $37.00 per hour. Benefits included after probation period.

The standard 6 hours shift for this position could be scheduled between 9AM and 8PM on the weekdays.

Duties:
- Design, implement, and evaluate individualized programs for children and adults with developmental, physical, and cognitive disabilities to promote independence, social integration, and life skills development;
-Develop and deliver structured, evidence-based programming that incorporates social-emotional learning, therapeutic recreation, and adaptive skill-building, while modifying instructional methods to meet diverse learning needs;
-Assess participant progress on an ongoing basis by collecting and analyzing data, and adjust program plans, teaching strategies, and behavioural supports to achieve measurable outcomes;
-Apply behaviour management and intervention techniques, including positive behaviour support and de-escalation strategies, to address complex needs and support participant engagement;
-Utilize augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems, including communication devices and applications, to facilitate language development, participation, and independence;
-Support individuals with multiple or co-occurring disabilities by assisting with mobility, adaptive functioning, and the development of daily living and pre-vocational skills;
-Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, including Speech-Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, and other specialists, to implement therapeutic goals and ensure coordinated service delivery;
-Maintain accurate and detailed documentation, including progress reports and program records, and communicate regularly with case managers, families, and caregivers;
-Facilitate programming in both centre-based and community-based settings to promote inclusion and the practical application of skills in real-world environments;
- Provide guidance and support to junior staff or assistants, and ensure all programming complies with organizational standards, safety protocols, and applicable regulations.

Qualifications:
- Completion of a post-secondary diploma or degree in special education, disability studies, behavioural science, psychology, or a related field is required;
- Experience working with individuals with developmental or multiple disabilities in a structured instructional or support setting is considered an asset;
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement individualized programs, including goal setting, progress monitoring, and adapting strategies to meet diverse needs;
- Knowledge of behaviour management techniques, including positive behaviour support, is an asset;
- Familiarity with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems, such as communication devices or applications (e.g., Speak For Yourself, PECS), is an asset;
- Ability to collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary team, including working with therapists and case managers;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to maintain accurate documentation and communicate with families and caregivers;
- Ability to work independently and lead small groups in both centre-based and community-based environments;
- A valid Criminal Record Check is required;
- English language proficiency is required.
