The Clinical Coordinator, Ambulatory Pharmacy is responsible for promoting and providing outcome-based, patient-centered medication therapy management services through safe and cost-effective medication utilization. Develops objectives, policies, and procedures to formalize and implement the mission, vision, and values of Billings Clinic and the Pharmacy Department. Maintains the standards, customer relations, and practice within the Pharmacy and key stakeholders. Accountabilities include but are not limited to: development/implementation/management of ambulatory pharmacy programs; short and long-range planning to achieve goals and objectives; fiscal responsibility and oversight; provider and interdepartmental/intradepartmental relations; personnel supervision; and quality and regulatory oversight.

Essential Job Functions
* In collaboration with pharmacy, medical staff, administration, and health care providers, develops and implements short and long-range strategies. Also, leads, develops, and revises programs which enhance department and organization services.
* Leads the growth and strategic development of ambulatory clinical pharmacy services in the overall marketing, program development, and service priorities. Coordinates with providers and other Billings Clinic leadership to assure continuity in pursing pharmacy and organizational goals and synergy in implementing plans and problem resolution.
* Coordinates and develops collaborative relationships with Billings Clinic departments.
* a) Leads ambulatory clinical pharmacy services and interdisciplinary team meetings to promote coordination of services.
* Gathers, analyzes, and trends clinical, financial, and statistical data to evaluate and improve the quality of care, safe and reliable care, adverse outcomes, cost-effective pharmaceutical therapies, and service improvements. Develops and presents accurate, credible reports to a variety of committees regarding patient outcomes associated with comprehensive medication management and the associated financial and quality impacts, as directed.
* a) Evaluates financial opportunities for ambulatory clinical pharmacy services
* b) Reviews patient outcome trends for ambulatory pharmacy development and service expansion opportunities
* c) Quantifies Ambulatory Pharmacy Services impact in outcomes measures
* Practices process improvement principles to assess and improve the quality of the service/care provided within the department. Identifies issues/concerns relating to personnel, workflow, safety, medication errors, etc. and works collaboratively with the Manager to resolve.
* Formulates recommendations for appropriate cost-effective therapeutic alternatives to patients as appropriate
* a) Facilitates the development and implementation of treatment guidelines, collaborative practice agreements, and workflows to optimize patient outcomes
* b) Participates in appropriate clinical and quality committees
* c) Develops and maintains policies and procedures
* Maintains knowledge of current trends and development within healthcare and pharmaceutical therapies and ambulatory clinical pharmacy services. Reads and evaluates medical, pharmaceutical, and other literature to determine its scientific merit and applicability to the organization and pharmacy. Utilizes appropriate information resources to respond to various inquiries and information requests and resolve problems.
* a) Collaborates with the Pharmacy Residency Program Director and Pharmacy Educator to develop and promote an educational environment within Ambulatory Clinical Pharmacy Services
* b) Coordinates all education within Ambulatory Clinical Pharmacy Services and inter-departmental clinical needs
* c) Active participation in organization(s) that promote pharmacy ambulatory care services
* Leads, recruits, develops, mentors, and retains a talented team committed to accomplishing the goals and objectives of Billings Clinic. Recommends, implements, and evaluates plans and systems that assure sufficient number of qualified and competent staff to provide pharmacy services. Adheres to administrative policies and procedures relating to human resource management.
* Develops and implements orientation and educational programs for ambulatory clinical staff and affiliated providers
* a) Maintains all required employee information in departmental files
* b) Conducts periodic and annual employee performance evaluations
* c) Processes employee payroll and completes staffing schedule
* Demonstrates and encourages an ethic of open communication and teamwork throughout the organization. Builds an environment of shared commitment to Billings Clinic's goals and responsibility to achieve quality outcomes. Provides consultation for related concerns and acts as a customer advocate by demonstrating sensitivity to ethical and legal ramifications of practice.
* a) Facilitates clinical consultation and clarification to medical staff and practitioners
* b) Contributes to the advancement of the profession through presentations at local, state, and national meetings
* Utilizes health care technology and information management systems to support quality of care/financial needs and the efficient use of resources. Advises and assists in the design and maintenance of the pharmacy information systems and databases, including for measuring clinical outcomes, safety and productivity metrics.
* Collaborates with payors to identify opportunities to improve patient outcomes. Evaluates and utilizes tools to demonstrate clinical, safety and financial outcomes.
* Knowledgeable and competent to staff in ambulatory clinical pharmacy service areas. Staffs and/or rounds regularly with staff in ambulatory pharmacy clinical areas. Performs duties of ambulatory clinical pharmacist as needed.
* Acts as a drug information resource to the medical staff, other professionals, and patients.
* Works with team(s) to meet Specialty Pharmacy accreditation standards. Facilitates Clinical Oversight Subcommittee, Quality Improvement Projects, and Therapy Management. Serves as senior clinical staff member and provides oversight and guidance for clinical operations of pharmacy.

Minimum Qualifications
Education
*Minimum 4 Year / Bachelors Degree Pharmacy

Experience
* Residency Training or Experience
* PGY2 in Ambulatory Care OR
* PGY2 in Pharmacy Administration with a minimum of 1 year of experience with at least 50% of time spent in direct patient care/clinical ambulatory care setting OR
* PGY1 with focus in clinical ambulatory care setting PLUS 2 years of relevant additional experience with at least 50% of time spent in direct patient care/clinical ambulatory care setting OR
* PGY1 in a non-ambulatory care setting PLUS 3 years of relevant additional experience with at least 50% of time spent in direct patient care/clinical ambulatory care setting OR
* 5 years' experience in pharmacy administration and/or ambulatory care pharmacy and at least one of those years with 50% of time spent in direct patient care/clinical ambulatory care setting.REQUIREMENTS UPON HIRE (if not already met as a minimum requirement):
* Previous Leadership experience and/or experience leading teams in facility-wide projects

Certifications and Licenses
*Current Montana driver's license and the ability to be insured to operate Billings Clinic vehicles
* Obtain Montana Pharmacist License prior to start date
* Obtain Board Certified Ambulatory Care Pharmacist (BCACP) Certification within 1 year of hire
* Obtain Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner (CPP) within 18 months of hire
* Board Certified Ambulatory Care Pharmacist (BCACP) upon hire
* Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner (CPP) upon hire

Or an equivalent combination of education and experience relating to the above tasks, knowledge, skills and abilities will be considered. Employees that require a licensed or certification must be properly licensed/certified and the licensure/certification must be in good standing.
