Job Description:
Industrial Designer
• Position available in Adairsville, GA
Job Duties
• Create and develop design concepts for company industrial products, such as HI-MACS (acrylic solid surface) and Viatera (engineered quartz stone countertops)
• Prepare drawings, sketches, and blueprints of designs using drafting instruments and computer-aided design (CAD) equipment
• Develop and revise Viatera recipes by controlling for sand, resin, and powder ratios, base mixers and additives, and other materiality concerns
• Develop and revise HI-MACS recipes by controlling for toners, filler, and additives, as well as peroxides and chips, and other materiality concerns
• Generate and test lab samples of recipes and tools by mimicking production line techniques to assess the feasibility of key design features, styles, hues, and finishes
• Present design concepts and samples by arranging mood board layouts, rendering and photoshopping product samples, and creating presentation materials using Adobe InDesign
• Research and analyze market and design trends through trade shows to determine color trends, design trends, and industry practices for commercial and residential interior spaces
• Analyze customers’ and competitors’ design requirements
• Select target natural stones for design inspiration based on vein patterns and color coordination
• Collaborate with product managers and engineers on materiality and manufacturing processes to brainstorm new tools or methods
• Maintain a database of industrial patterns and design specifications, etc.
