Job Overview:

Residence Inn by Marriott is seeking a highly skilled and dependable Hotel Maintenance Technician to support the day-to-day upkeep of hotel facilities. This role is responsible for maintaining guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces to ensure a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained environment for guests and staff.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs throughout the hotel property
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests in guest rooms, public areas, and service areas
• Make minor adjustments and repairs to heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, and electrical systems
• Conduct basic repairs involving carpentry, drywall, painting, and general building maintenance
• Perform minor repairs on appliances, furniture and hotel equipment as needed.
• Replace or repair fixtures, lighting, doors, locks, and furniture as required
• Inspect building systems and equipment and report issues requiring major repairs or further attention
• Carry out preventive maintenance tasks according to established schedules
• Perform safety and security checks of hotel facilities and report hazards or deficiencies
• Contact and coordinate with licensed tradespersons and external contractors for specialized maintenance and repair work
• Assist tradespersons and contractors during maintenance or repair activities
• Move and reposition furniture, equipment, and supplies as required for maintenance or operational needs
• Wash windows and clean interior walls and ceilings as part of maintenance duties
• Remove snow and ice from walkways, entrances, and parking areas when required
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and safe condition
• Respond to maintenance requests from guests and staff promptly.
• Follow all hotel policies and ensure compliance with all federal, provincial, occupational and local health and safety procedures and regulations

Qualifications & Skills:

• Completion of secondary school or equivalent
• 2-3 years’ experience is required in building or facilities maintenance is required
• General knowledge of building systems and repair techniques
• Ability to safely use hand and power tools
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Flexibility to work shifts, overtime, and on-call schedules as required
• Good communication skills in English

Work Conditions:

• Work is performed throughout the hotel, including guest rooms, public areas, and mechanical spaces
• Physical tasks may include standing, lifting, bending, climbing ladders, and working with tools
• May be required to respond to urgent or emergency maintenance requests

Wage & Hours: $36.00 per hour, 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week. Overtime pay as needed.

Schedule: 9am – 5pm, Mon - Friday, Shift work; Weekend, overtime and on-call availability may be required
