Home Support Worker for Elders Job

I am seeking a compassionate and reliable Home Support Worker to provide daily care and support for my elderly parents. My father is 77 years old and has diabetes and hypertension, my mother is 73 years old and also has hypertension. The ideal candidate will have experience preparing healthy, diabetic-friendly meals and be knowledgeable about proper nutrition for elders.

Job Responsibilities Includes:

• Prepare and cook daily meals tailored for diabetes and hypertension management
• Assist with light household tasks (i.e. launder clothing and household linens, perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties) to maintain a safe, clean environment
• Provide companionship and support to my parents
• Administer daily medications
• Monitor and report any concerns about health, diet, or wellbeing
• Assist them with bathing and other aspects of personal hygiene (both of my parents can walk and stand independently, but will need supervision in case of accident and provide any care if needed)

Job Details:

• Location: South Surrey, BC
• Schedule: Full-time, on-site at my house, 30 hours/ week with various schedule (typically 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM)
• Compensation: $23/hour
• Term of employment: Permanent
• Starts as soon as possible

• Previous experience as a home support worker, caregiver, or similar role is an asset
• Knowledge of diabetic and low-sodium cooking
• Patience, kindness, honest and reliability
• Ability to assist with personal hygiene in a respectful and dignified way
• Basic first aid or CPR certification is an asset
• Speaks English
• Has a high school graduate degree
• Non-smoking
• Criminal record check
