for a Male Client with Quadriplegia

Employment Terms: Full Time – Permanent

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Use a Patient Lift to:
a) Move the patient in and out of bed.
b) Transfer the patient on or off a Toilet Commode for his bowel movement.
c) Transfer the patient on or off a Tilt Shower Commode to wash him in a shower.
d) Transfer the patient to his bed to dry and dress him.
e) Transfer the patient on or off a specialized manual wheelchair for his daily routine.
2. Operate a hospital bed, and a power chair.
3. Shave the patient at least twice a week.
4. Plan and prepare meals including shopping for food.
5. Feed the patient and give him his medication.
6. Take care of the patient’s personal hygiene.
7. Perform light housekeeping, including laundry, making beds and cleaning.

Working Hours: 6-8 hours/day, 30-40 hours/week; split shift between 6:30 AM to 8:00 PM from Monday to Saturday, 1 day off on Sunday

Wage/Benefit: $23.45/hour; Worker’s Compensation Board Protection

Work Setting & Location:
• In a private home in Cold Lake, AB
• The care recipient is a male with quadriplegia

Employment Requirements:
• Education: College education or relevant training in home support is required.
• Work Experience: Minimum 1 year experience caring for a person with a disability is required.
