We are seeking a full-time Home Support Worker to care for an individual living with Retinitis Pigmentosa and legal blindness. The ideal candidate will assist with personal care, mobility support, and daily activities impacted by vision loss, while also providing support with medical and safety needs. This role also includes preparing nutritious meals, helping with medication reminders, performing light housekeeping tasks, and offering companionship. Preferred work hours are six hours per day, Monday to Friday, at the client’s residence. Live-in arrangements are not required. Job Duties
- Assisting with daily living activities in my home, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment tailored to my needs as an individual living with Retinitis Pigmentosa.
- Supporting personal care tasks, such as dressing, mobility assistance, and ensuring my physical safety and comfort.
- Preparing and cooking nutritious meals, encouraging hydration, and promoting healthy eating habits.
- Reminding and assisting me with taking prescribed medications on schedule and monitoring for any significant changes in my condition that may require attention.
- Performing light housekeeping duties, including laundry, cleaning the kitchen, and maintaining a tidy and safe living space.
- Accompanying me to medical appointments, therapy sessions, and other outings, providing physical assistance and emotional support during these activities.
- Assisting with light exercises and stretches to help maintain mobility and strength.
- Offering companionship and emotional reassurance through regular interaction to reduce feelings of isolation and foster social connection.
