Position Info:

Position: Chef
Terms of employment: Full-time, Permanent
Wage: $32.00~$36.00/hour (depending on experience)
Working Hours: 30-40 hours/week
Number of Positions: 1
Work Location: 6-680 Trans Canada Highway, Nanaimo, BC V9S 5R1

Job Duties:

Prepare and cook meals or specialty foods.
Supervise the work of cooks and other kitchen staff.
Demonstrate cooking staff to new techniques and equipment.
Train staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food.
Plan menus and ensure that all food meets established quality standards.
Prepare dishes tailored to customers with food allergies or dietary restrictions.
Manage the recruitment and hiring of kitchen staff.
Coordinate the purchase and repair of kitchen equipment.
Maintain records of food cost, inventory and other necessary kitchen supplies.
Instruct cooks in food preparation, cooking techniques, garnishing, and presentation.

Job requirements:

Experience: 2~3 years of commercial cooking experience is required
Education: Completion of secondary school is required
Language: English
