Job Description:
We need two (2) Heavy Equipment Operator(s) who can start immediately.
Wage: $36.00 an hour for 30 to 44 hours per week
Terms of employment:
Permanent; Full-time
Employment Conditions:
Day; Evening; Morning; Overtime; Shift; Weekend
Language requirement: English
Education: Secondary school graduation certificate
Experience: 1 – 2 years in related field
Job Duties:
• Operate heavy equipment, including loaders, skid steers, excavators, forklifts, and other yard equipment to load, unload, move, and organize materials, freight, gravel, soil, pallets, machinery, and other transport-related items.
• Load and unload trucks and trailers safely, ensuring that materials are properly positioned, balanced, and secured before transportation.
• Move equipment, containers, trailers, and materials within the company yard, storage areas, loading areas, and customer or work sites as required.
• Assist drivers and dispatch staff by preparing loads, staging materials, and ensuring trucks are ready for scheduled deliveries and pick-ups.
• Inspect heavy equipment before and after use to confirm it is safe, operational, and suitable for the assigned task.
• Perform basic routine maintenance, including checking fluids, tires, attachments, hydraulic systems, lights, and other equipment components, and report any defects or repair needs to management.
• Operate equipment in different weather and ground conditions, including snow, mud, uneven terrain, and tight yard spaces, while maintaining safety and control.
• Follow company safety procedures, transportation safety requirements, and workplace health and safety standards when operating equipment or working around trucks and trailers.
• Communicate with supervisors, dispatchers, drivers, and yard staff to coordinate loading, unloading, material movement, and equipment use.
• Keep basic records of equipment use, inspections, maintenance concerns, and completed yard or loading tasks as required by the employer.
