EVR is seeking qualified Heavy Duty Mechanics to maintain and repair a diverse fleet of mining equipment across its four mining operations.
Work Locations
Successful candidates may be assigned to any of the following EVR operations, depending on operational requirements and available vacancies:
• Fording River Operations: approximately 29 kilometres northeast of Elkford, British Columbia, V0B 1H0
o This site is unionized: United Steelworkers Local 7884
• Elkview Operations: approximately 3 kilometres east of Sparwood, British Columbia, V0B 2G1
o This site is unionized: United Steelworkers Local 9346
• Greenhills Operations: approximately 8 kilometres northeast of Elkford, British Columbia, V0B 1H0
o This site is not unionized.
• Line Creek Operations: approximately 15 kilometres north of Sparwood on Highway 43, British Columbia, V0B 2G0
o This site is unionized: International Union of Operating Engineers Local 115
The specific work location will be identified in the successful candidate’s written offer of employment.
Successful candidates assigned to a unionized operation will be subject to the applicable collective agreement, including its union membership, wage and working-condition requirements.
Work Schedule and Hours
Employees work 12-hour rotating day and night shifts on either a 4x4 or 8x8 rotation.
Hourly Wages
The hourly wage depends on the operation to which the successful candidate is assigned:
• Elkview Operations: $53.69 /hour
• Fording River Operations: $53.78 /hour
• Line Creek Operations: $52.24 /hour
• Greenhills Operations: $53.78 /hour
Applicable shift premiums, overtime pay and additional compensation will be paid in accordance with EVR policies or the applicable collective agreement.

Job Duties
The Heavy Duty Mechanic will perform some or all of the following duties:
• Participate in and comply with EVR’s health and safety programs, procedures and policies
• Perform routine preventative maintenance and major equipment repairs
• Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronic equipment problems
• Repair major equipment breakdowns
• Disassemble, inspect, repair and reassemble engines, transmissions and other major components
• Diagnose and repair cooling, fuel, exhaust, braking, clutch, differential, hydraulic, electrical and lubrication systems
• Diagnose, maintain and repair mobile off-road mining equipment
• Maintain and repair haul trucks, graders, bulldozers, excavators, shovels, loaders and other heavy equipment
• Prepare maintenance reports and service records
• Recommend practical and innovative repair solutions
• Apply industry best practices when maintaining and repairing equipment
• Work with equipment manufactured by CAT, Komatsu, P&H, Hitachi, John Deere, LeTourneau, Volvo, Marion and other manufacturers
• Work independently and collaboratively as part of a maintenance team

Employment Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
• Canadian Interprovincial Red Seal endorsement as a Heavy-Duty Equipment Technician, an equivalent recognized trade certification, or sufficient documented training and work experience to be eligible to challenge the applicable Canadian trade certification examination
• A valid driver’s licence
• Ability to work 12-hour rotating day and night shifts
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Willingness and ability to relocate to, or reside within reliable commuting distance of, Sparwood or Elkford, British Columbia
Previous experience maintaining or repairing mobile mining equipment is considered an asset.
