Position Overview

The Division of Developmental Disabilities is seeking to hire a Hearing and Speech Advanced Specialist for the Kiley Developmental Center located in Waukegan, Illinois to coordinate the entire hearing and speech services program. Recruits graduate students for internship training and clinical practicums. Develops and implements comprehensive speech, language, and hearing services. Utilizes manual communication skills with individuals who are deaf and/or hard of hearing.

Job Responsibilities
1.Coordinates hearing and speech services at the Kiley Developmental Center.
2.Provides direct professional clinical speech pathology and audiology services to an assigned caseload.
3.Develops and oversees practicums for graduate students for internship training and clinical practicums.
4. Serves as designated lead worker.
5.Functions as a member of an Interdisciplinary Team.
6.Translates functions/procedures into sign language for individuals who are deaf and/or hard of hearing.
7.Prepares routine and specialized reports.
8.Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications
1. Requires possession of a master’s degree in speech-language pathology or audiology from an approved program.
2. Requires a license to practice speech-language pathology or audiology from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (DFPR).
3. Requires a valid, current Professional Educator License (PEL) with endorsement as a speech-language pathologist (either teaching or non-teaching) issued by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE).
4. Requires three (3) years of directly related clinical experience in an advanced clinical setting.
5. Requires the ability to communicate in sign language at a colloquial skill level.
Conditions of Employment

2. Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers.
3. Requires the ability to travel in the performance of job duties.
4. Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
5. Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
