Job Description:
We are seeking passionate and dedicated head volleyball coaches to join our team. An ideal candidate would have a strong background in volleyball coaching, and possess the ability to educate and inspire athletes of various skill levels. This role involves developing efficient practice plans 2-3 days a week, conducting practices 2-3 days a week, traveling to tournaments 6-7 times, and fostering a positive team environment that encourages growth and teamwork. Our club motto is #WEoverme.
This is for the 2026-2027 season. Practices will begin December 2026, Tournaments will begin January 2027.
Our National teams will attend either USAV or AAU Nationals in June/July of 2027. They practice on Sundays + 2 weeknights.
Our American and Regional teams do not attend Nationals, they will end in late April/early May 2027. Our American and Regional teams practice 2-3 days a week.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement effective practice plans tailored to the needs of individual players and the team as a whole.
Conduct 2-3 practices focusing on skill development, teamwork, and game strategies.
Educate athletes on the rules of volleyball, sportsmanship, and the importance of physical fitness.
Monitor player performance and provide constructive feedback to enhance their skills.
Coach competitive matches, sometimes having to travel.
Foster a positive team culture that promotes respect, discipline, and hard work.
Communicate effectively with players, parents, and other coaches regarding player progress and team goals.
Maintain equipment and facilities in good condition for safe use during practices and games.
Requirements
Previous experience in volleyball coaching
Strong knowledge of volleyball rules, techniques, and strategies
Experience working with students or youth in a coaching or educational capacity is advantageous
Ability to motivate and inspire athletes while fostering teamwork and collaboration
Skills in related areas such as childcare are considered a plus
Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with players, parents, and staff
A commitment to promoting Surge volleyball within the community
