Job Title: Harvesting Labourer (NOC 85101)
Terms of Employment: 30-40 hours per week, Full-time/Permanent
Start Date: As soon as possible
Wage: $17.85 – $19.40 per hour (Depending on experience)
No of Positions: 16
Job Description:
• Perform tasks such as hand harvesting, picking, sorting, packaging, and weighing mush-rooms.
• Operate machinery to fill bags, shelves, trays or other containers with prepared special-ized mushroom compost, ensuring proper fill levels and consistency.
• Load, unload and transfer crates, bags, farm produce, supplies and equipment for transport within the farm
• Perform general clean up of production and packing spaces to maintain a safe, efficient workplace.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to strict hygiene protocols
• Follow all safety procedures and guidelines, using personal protective equipment and adhering to regulatory and site specific standards.
• Assist with general farm and equipment maintenance, including cleaning, organizing and minor repairs of growing areas and machinery.
• May assist with other farm tasks as needed, such as mushroom compost preparation.
SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
Education: No formal education required.
Experience: No formal experience required; successful candidates will be trained in job duties.
Language: No formal language requirement.
Work Conditions:
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work long hours with repetitive tasks.
• Ability to work in varied (cold, damp, dusty) and controlled (specific temperature and humidity) conditions.
• Ability to handle heavy workloads, which can be physically demanding, including lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to distinguish between colors, hand-eye coordination, and manual dexterity.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, crouch and kneel for long periods.
• Attention to detail and ability to maintain quality standards.
• Strong sanitation practices and awareness of hygiene protocols.
• Be willing to take a first aid level 1 course or other required training programs.
• Be willing to take any safety training and machine operating training programs.
• Must wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
