Handyperson Job

Bella Coola Valley Inn is located in Bella Coola town, and we have 20 rooms and a restaurant/pub. Now we are looking for an experienced and creative Handyperson for our business. Jobs include patching, sanding, painting, small carpentry, tile repair and installation, caulking, shelf installation, and minor repairs throughout the property.

Position: 1 Full-time Handyperson
Working Location: 441 Mackenzie Street, PO Box 949, Bella Coola, BC. V0T 1C0
Wage: $24.00-25.00 per hour and 4% of the gross income for paid vacation per year.
Work Hours: 30-35 hours per week.
Start date of Employment: ASAP

Responsibilities
- Make adjustments and minor repairs to heating, cooling, ventilating, plumbing and electrical systems, and contact tradespersons for major repairs
- Perform other routine maintenance jobs such as patching, sanding, painting, wallpaper and drywall repair, small carpentry, tile repair and installation, caulking, shelf installation, minor repairs throughout the property
- Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment
- Respond to requests from guests for minor repairs
- Perform daily inspections of the building systems
- Ensure that safety measures are in place in the establishment
- Provide general assistance to skilled trade persons such as mechanics, electricians, carpenters and plumbers
- May move heavy furniture, equipment and supplies

Requirements
- Education: secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
- 2-3 years of previous handyperson experience is required.
- Completion of a one or two-year apprenticeship program or college or vocational school courses would be an advantage
- Ability to follow all sanitation procedures.
