Job description:
As a Greenhouse Laborer, you will work closely with the Team Lead to ensure that requirements and schedules are met in a timely manner. You will be responsible for planting and harvesting flowers and plants, actively representing BFP and operating in accordance with company values.
Core Expectations
Prepare soil for planting bulbs, cuttings, and transplants.
Handle potted plants/flowers for propagation and packaging.
Operate machinery applicable to the assigned task/role.
Ensure quality in preparation, labeling, packing, and shipment readiness.
Correctly dispose of packaging waste and properly store materials.
Proactively observe and recognize any plant-related issues in the greenhouse and packaged products.
Work collaboratively with management and growers on task assignments.
Ensure compliance with company policies, safety procedures, employment, and labor standards.
Keep work areas tidy, clean, and organized.
Perform other assigned duties.

Good hand-eye coordination with attention to detail.
Good communication skills to interact with teammates, senior support staff, and customers.
Ability to follow procedures and instructions and solve problems to complete tasks.
Ability to recognize a variety of plant diseases, pests, etc.

Greenhouse experience is required.
Experience operating a forklift is an asset.

Mental/Physical Requirements
Ability to lift 10 to 30 kg occasionally, 10 kg frequently, and 5 kg constantly to lift and move products.
Balance, reaching, and gripping when climbing a stool and/or ladder.
Bending, grasping, and lifting products above the shoulders to correctly lift items from the floor.
Ability to stand for long periods while performing job responsibilities.
Physical ability to work in typical greenhouse conditions with cold, humidity, and variable temperatures, including considerable moisture.
Required Work Schedule
This position requires the individual to meet greenhouse needs to fulfill orders as described in the employment contract.
Willingness to work extended hours if necessary.
Work Relationships
Reports to the Team Lead and is part of the greenhouse team.
Works closely with peers and other company employees and departments.
