is in need of General Farm Worker (Livestock)
NOC: 85100
EMPLOYMENT TERMS: Full Time - Permanent
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Care and tend to horses.
2. Assist in the training and exercising of the horses as required.
3. Feed and tend to livestock daily (horses and cattle).
4. Monitor animal behavior in regards to disease and health problems.
5. Handle stud horses and assist in the breeding program.
6. Care for breeding livestock (female bovines-cows and horses-mares) as well as the young (calves and foals).
7. Treat animals for sickness or injuries.
8. Maintain or assist in the maintenance of facilities and farm infrastructure including cleaning stables, barns, barnyards, and pens.
9. Operate and assist in the maintenance of farm machinery.
10. Perform other related tasks as assigned.
WORKING HOURS: 40-44 hrs/week; hours of work varies according to weather, and the daily needs of the horses and cattle. 1 day off per week on varied days
WAGE/BENEFITS: $18.34.00/hour; Vision and Dental Benefits after 3 months of employment
EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
1. Education: No formal education is required
2. Work Experience: Previous experience is an asset. On-the-job training will be provided.
3. In-depth knowledge of general horse and cattle health is required.
4. Ability to lift 50 lbs repeatedly.
5. Ability to deal with stressful situations and work under pressure
6. Knowledge on equine anatomy is an asset
7. Must have real desire to work with cattle and horses
