Garage Door Installer Job

Main duties include:
Review work orders, site measurements, product specifications, and installation instructions to determine job layout, materials, tools, and installation procedures.
Measure openings and mark installation guidelines for garage door panels, tracks, operators, brackets, hinges, seals, and related components.
Install residential and commercial garage doors, including prefabricated panels, tracks, rollers, springs, cables, hardware, windows, insulation sections, and accessories.
Install, adjust, service, and test garage door operators, remotes, wall controls, safety sensors, and related automatic door components.
Repair and replace damaged or worn parts, including springs, cables, rollers, hinges, panels, tracks, rails, weatherstripping, seals, and control components.
Align and adjust garage door tracks, panels, springs, cables, operators, and safety devices to ensure safe and smooth operation.
Troubleshoot common garage door problems, including noisy doors, damaged panels, loose tracks, broken springs, cable issues, and defective openers.
Use hand tools, power tools, measuring tools, ladders, and installation equipment safely and accurately.
Remove old garage doors, openers, tracks, hardware, and related materials from job sites as required.
Complete job records, service notes, and material usage details, and follow workplace safety procedures at all job sites.

Employment Requirements:

Secondary school education is required.
2 years or more experience of related installation, repair, servicing, construction, door installation, garage door installation, or mechanical maintenance experience is required.
Experience with residential or commercial garage doors, door operators, springs, cables, tracks, panels, hardware, or related prefabricated building products is an asset.

Ability to read and understand work orders, installation instructions, product specifications, and basic drawings.
Ability to use hand tools, power tools, measuring tools, ladders, and related installation equipment.
Ability to lift and move heavy garage door panels, tracks, operators, tools, and materials.
Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and as part of an installation/service team.
A valid driver’s licence may be required due to travel to customer job sites.
